PBI blends very well with other fibres such as Aramid and Preox, this is partly done for performance reasons as well cost efficiency, the Para-Aramid / PBI blend is commonly found in fire-fighting uniforms.

PBI Fibres are used for very demanding applications such as safety and heat resistant apparel. Due to the excellent heat and flame resistance – the fibres will not burn in air – with a high LOI and low moisture regain it makes these fibres an excellent choice for fire blocking end uses, such as protective clothing.
